Tripartite Cross-Border Meeting
Young people in Malawi face issues and challenges that affect not only them but also their peers in other countries. Cross-border health challenges are some of those that easily get channelled from one country to another, as recently evidenced by the Covid-19 pandemic.
As such, cooperation and coordination among countries countries on such issues is important.
NYCOM is, this week, participating in a Tripartite Cross-Border Meeting involving Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique which has began today in Chipata City, Zambia, and will end on August 18, 2022.

The meeting has been organised to review the progress made by the three countries in carrying out plans agreed during a previous meeting held in 2020. It will identify major cross-border health, migration, and other relevant non-health issues that affect the three countries and discuss ways to enhance coordination and referral systems.
The Malawi delegation is composed of officials from Ministry of Education – Malawi, Ministry of Homeland Security, Ministry Of Health – Malawi, Ministry of Local Government-Malawi, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Malawi Office, Evangelical Lutheran Development Service (EDS) and other stakeholders.
The meeting has been organised with financial and technical assistance from the International Organization for Migration and Save the Children Nederland.
